Irving – Modernization of naval shipyard

Plan Group of Ontario commissioned DAWCO to perform electrical work for assembly buildings and administrative offices. The manufacturing plant has two main buildings linked together. The first building is 200 feet wide by 1,000 feet long and 80 feet high, while the second building is 200 feet wide by 350 feet long and 150 feet high.

 

The scope of work included lighting, distribution, fire alarm system, ground, security system and the ducting of the computer network. 175,000 feet of Teck cable were installed, as well as 220,000 feet of ducts. Much of the lighting and wiring distribution was performed on lifting platforms 150 feet above the ground. About 95,000 hours of direct labour were performed over two shifts.
