In recent years, DAWCO has completed major construction and maintenance projects in the mining and metals industry, demonstrating our commitment and ability to meet the most complex challenges.

DAWCO has acquired solid expertise in the mining and metals industry through its involvement in a multitude of facility construction projects, including iron and titanium mines, as well as aluminum and magnesium plants. Our achievements include the complete construction of critical plant sections, from groundbreaking to commissioning. Our work also includes plant upgrades, renovations, maintenance and shutdowns, as well as the construction of substations and modular substations.

Major projects:

Rio Tinto Alcan – AP60 plant in Jonquière : DAWCO supplied electrical and instrumentation work as part of the construction of the new plant. Rio Tinto’s R&D teams used this demonstration plant to develop the AP60 electrolysis technology. This technology generates seven times fewer greenhouse gases per tonne of aluminum than the industry average.
Aluminerie Alouette – Expansion of the Sept-Îles smelter : DAWCO was mandated to install all electrical equipment and instrumentation systems. Our teams also carried out pre-operational checks and provided the necessary support for commissioning.
ArcelorMittal Mine Canada : DAWCO provided piping mechanics, structural and civil engineering services for the complete construction of a 43-metre diameter thickener, a 25-metre diameter water tank, a pumping station and piping support for the concentrator area of the Mont Wright Iron Ore Complex in Fermont.
